The first quarterfinal for “America’s Got Talent” isn’t till August 13 but we can confirm that Ansley Burns has been tapped by the producers for the wild card slot. This talented child singer will join 11 other acts to compete for America’s votes. Only seven of them will move on to the “AGT” semi-finals based on the results of the popular vote.
Ansley has certainly shown us that she can handle herself on the “America’s Got Talent” stage. Don’t believe me? Then take a look at these 12-year-old in action on Judge Cuts 3, which aired on July 30. As you can see Simon Cowell cuts short her performance of sing Carrie Underwood‘s “Good Girl.”
The head judge then made Ansley sing again, only this time without her backing track. When she was finished, Simon praised her performance and said that he thought there’s “something special” about Ansley. And he defended his decision to have her start again. “Our job is to see where you could go and where we could help you.”
Simon had pulled the same move when Ansley first auditioned. Back then, he despaired over her “horrible, horrible backing track” to Aretha Franklin‘s “Think.” Simon demanded that she sing a capella and Ansley rose to the challenge. All of the judges praised her poise and she got four yeses.
How will Ansley do on Tuesday’s live show? Sound off in the comments section below about her chances as well as your thoughts on season 14 of “AGT,” including the two new judges, Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union.
