Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Anthony Carrigan is entering the “Barry” episode “Past = Present x Future Over Yesterday” as his 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Comedy Supporting Actor. This program aired April 14 and was the third episode of the second season for the HBO show.
In this installment, NoHo Hank (Carrigan) is terrified of Barry (Bill Hader) after his sniper fails to kill him. Instead of sending him back to Chechnya, Barry offers to train his men and relieve the debt he owes him.
It’s the first career nomination for Carrigan. For this year’s contest, he is competing against 2018 champ Henry Winkler and his other “Barry” co-star Stephen Root, plus previous winners Tony Hale (“Veep”) and Tony Shalhoub (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and past nominee Alan Arkin (“The Kominsky Method”).
