Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Bill Hader is entering the “Barry” episode “The Truth Has a Ring to It” as his 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Comedy Actor. This program aired May 5 and was the sixth episode of the second season for the HBO show.
In this installment, Barry (Hader) returns to acting class. He uses the trauma from killing Detective Moss to deliver one of the greatest performances of his life, much to the amazement of his teacher (Henry Winkler). Hank (Anthony Carrigan) gives Barry a pin to thank him for training the Chechens. He might be in deep trouble when Funches (Stephen Root) finds the body in Barry’s car trunk.
Hader has four nominations this year for acting, directing, producing and writing, plus he’s the reigning champ in this category. For this year’s contest, he is competing against previous winners Ted Danson (“The Good Place”), Michael Douglas (“The Kominsky Method”) and Eugene Levy (“Schitt’s Creek”) and returning nominees Anthony Anderson (“Black-ish”) and Don Cheadle (“Black Monday”).
