Billy Porter (‘Pose’) 2019 Emmy Awards episode revealed for Best Drama Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Billy Porter is entering the “Pose” episode “Love Is the Message” as his 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Drama Actor. This program aired July 8 and was the sixth episode of the first season for the FX show.

In this installment, Pray Tell (Porter) hosts a cabaret event in the AIDS ward where boyfriend Costas is staying before he dies from complications. He is angry at first but is then consoled by Blanca (MJ Rodriguez) and her children.

It’s the first ever Emmy nomination for Porter, a Tony Awards champ. For this year’s contest, he is competing against previous winner Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”), returning nominees Jason Bateman (“Ozark”) and Milo Ventimiglia (“This Is Us”), past writing winner Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”) and previous nominee Kit Harington (“Game of Thrones”).
