Blake Shelton brings everyone to tears on ‘The Voice’ by what he says to Jessie Lawrence of Team Gwen [WATCH]

“Who isn’t in tears?” asked “The Voice” coach Carson Daly after Blake Shelton made everyone reach for the tissues during Tuesday’s episode. To recap: after Gwen Stefani paired up Jessie Lawrence and Rose Short in a battle to “Can’t Feel My Face,” she picked Rose as the winner and then pushed her “save” button to keep Jessie in the competition. That’s when Blake hit his “steal” button for Jessie. However, he didn’t want Jessie on his team, he simply wanted the 31-year-old singer to know that he was wanted. Cue the tears! As the crowd cheered, Blake explained, “Let me say my piece. I’m not gonna make a pitch to you because that’s the coach for you. But I wanted to show you how much respect I have for you and how much you deserve to be on this show, dude.” The camera cut to Kelly Clarkson and Gwen, both of who were covering their faces to hide their tears.

Gwen then told Jessie how much she thought he deserved to be in the competition. “You worked really hard, but it’s not just about your voice, it’s you,” she stated. “And I can’t wait to share you with America.” Jessie made the easy decision to stay on Team Gwen, as opposed to jumping ship to Team Blake following his symbolic button push.

Jessie really lucked out by the fact that Gwen had lost her previous two saves to Kelly (Kiara Brown) and John Legend (James Violet). “I’m so happy that I stole James,” John said later on backstage about the cliffhanger twist of him stealing James from Gwen’s team. “Jessie was supposed to be on Team Gwen. I’m happy for him and I’m happy for her that it all worked out.”

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the battle: “As they hit the main stage, Rose definitely has natural presence but I love how Jessie moves around the stage. In fact, I would choose Jessie as the winner of this battle if it were up to me. Vocally he’s no slouch and he knows how to entertain. First of all, the crowd LOVES these two. Kelly wants to drink with them, Blake refuses to pick a winner and John leans towards Rose. Gwen gushes over both but ultimately picks Rose as the winner of this battle.”
