It was the performance that “America’s Got Talent” fans have been anticipating for nearly three months. And it did not disappoint. Blind autistic singer Kodi Lee, who earned Gabrielle Union‘s Golden Buzzer back in the Season 14 premiere, returned to “AGT” during the live Quarterfinals 1 episode with his rendition of Simon & Garfunkel‘s “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” The tears were flowing in the Dolby Theatre and in homes across America, so it won’t be a surprise at all when Kodi advances to the next round. Watch the performance video above, read the judges’ comments below and make your predictions before Wednesday’s results show.
Gabrielle Union: “Kodi, you’ve changed the world and you keep changing the world. Who you are and what you stand for and what you continue to do makes the world so much more of a better, beautiful place. We have to stop putting limits on our children. We have to keep believing in each other. Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey.”
Simon Cowell: “Kodi, you continually amaze me and it made me realize when I watched that clip back, we are nothing without people like you. And furthermore, we are nothing without our audience who so generously share your clips so other people around the world can share your talent. I also want to thank Paul Simon who never really gives permission for anyone to sing this song because it’s very precious to him, and he gave clearance within 30 minutes because he saw your audition. But most importantly, you are generally one of the most extraordinary people and talents we’ve had the great fortune to have on any show we’ve ever made. God bless you.”
Julianne Hough: “Kodi, you have changed our hearts, you have changed our mindset, you’ve changed our lives. You are magic.”
Howie Mandel: “Well, in this world of troubled waters, you, Kodi, are our bridge.”
Kodi was given the mic as the credits rolled and he declared, “Thank you for all your support and I love you all.”
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Gabrielle’s Golden Buzzer act, Kodi Lee, was up next for his second performance of the season and to close out the night. Sat at the piano, he delivered an incredible rendition of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ that showed his range and depth as a performer. The in-house crowd loved him (chanting ‘Kodi! Kodi!’) and Gabrielle was overcome with emotion seeing her champion continue to impress audiences everywhere.”
