Charlotte Summers came so close to making it into the “America’s Got Talent” semifinals but ended up losing the last spot to the Ndlovu Youth Choir. At the end of the results show on Wednesday, Charlotte won over two of the four judges: Julianne Hough and Howie Mandel. But it was no surprise that Simon Cowell, who’d criticized her song choice, “Diamonds Are Forever,” in the live show, went with the choir as did Gabrielle Union. With the judges deadlocked, it was left to the viewers votes to decide the seventh act to move on from quarterfinal 2.
But there is still hope for Charlotte. She could land the Wild Card slot in the semifinals, which begin on Sept. 3. In our survey of “AGT” fans, this 13-year-old from Spain racked up a whopping 54% of the vote for the act they’d most like to see return. If you haven’t voted in our poll yet, be sure to do so at the bottom of this post. And sound off in the comments section on season 14 of “America’s Got Talent.”
On Tuesday’s live show, Charlotte was the first of the 12 acts to perform. Although barely a teenager, she has a powerhouse voice and owned the stage as she belted out this James Bond theme song made famous by Shirley Bassey. While the audience ate it up, the panel was not as impressed. Simon singled her out for some harsh criticism but found fault primarily with her song choice, which he characterized as “terrible.”
Do you agree with Simon? Take a look at Charlotte’s performance of “Diamonds Are Forever” on the “AGT” quarterfinal and then cast your ballot as to which of the five acts eliminated on Wednesday you’d most like to see return.
