“I’m completely and utterly blindsided,” Chelsea Walker said in her exit interview at the end of the fourth episode of “Survivor: Island of the Idols” (watch above). Indeed, there have been many blindsides already in this 39th season, but Chelsea’s takes the cake because of the way her female alliance turned on her. Initially the girls wanted to send home Dean Kowalski because of his and Chelsea’s showmance, but when Elaine Stott wasn’t on board, Missy Byrd hatched a plan to eliminate Chelsea instead.
In her parting words on CBS’s reality TV show, Chelsea admitted, “I’m a huge superfan. I’ve dreamed of playing ‘Survivor’ since I was eight years old and I really thought I could win this game.” Even though she didn’t win, at least Chelsea will go into the “Survivor” record books for being voted out with a hidden immunity idol in her pocket, the one she found almost by accident inside a tree stump. That’s something, right?
This season there seems to be an unfortunate pattern of people going home with hidden idols in their pockets. First Vince Moua last week, and now Chelsea, both of the Lairo tribe. “I could have saved myself,” Chelsea proclaimed, “so I’d say I’m just embarrassed. To not even make the merge? Ugh. This is so disappointing.”
For the record, Chelsea and Dean voted for Karishma Patel, but the other six all wrote down Chelsea’s name: Karishma, Missy, Elaine, Elizabeth Beisel, Tom Laidlaw and Aaron Meredith.
