Mentalist Colin Cloud, who many refer to as the real-life Sherlock Holmes, made his triumphant return to reality TV on Monday’s episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” After originally being a semi-finalist back in Season 12 of “AGT,” Colin had a lot to prove as he stepped onto the stage in front of judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel. By the end of his latest performance, Colin proved his worth by doing the unthinkable: he made original judge David Hasselhoff magically appear in the audience. Watch Colin’s performance video above.
Colin began his new act by having the judges toss random pieces of paper into the audience, then asking the crowd to throw the papers around the theater until Simon, Heidi and Mel all hit their buzzers. When the time was up, Colin tasked Howie with naming a random letter and random letter. Howie chose “L3,” which just so happened to be the same digits written on Colin’s palm — spooky!
The audience member who ended up with the black X on her paper after the countless switcheroos stood up and picked a celebrity at random: David Hasselhoff. Colin said that if the name on his pocket square did NOT say David Hasselhoff, then Howie would be allowed to hit his X, thereby removing him from the competition. Of course, when Colin pulled out his pocket square Hasselhoff’s name was embroidered on it.
Just when you thought the act was over, Colin demanded that the person who was sitting in “L3” reveal himself. The man stood up and removed his mask, exposing none other than Hasselhoff himself. The original “AGT” judge walked over to the current panelists as the classic “Baywatch” TV theme played overhead — nice touch, producers! All four current judges praised Colin’s act, saying that he truly redeemed himself.
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about Colin’s performance: “Back two years after his first stint on the show, Colin Cloud returned on Simon’s request that he deserved a second chance after just barely missing the finals. For his trick Colin correctly predicted that a random member of the audience would be thinking of David Hasselhoff‘s name which happened to already be written on Colin’s pocket square and who was already seated in the auditorium in the exact seat that Howie chose at random using one letter and one number.”
