Cristina Ramos did something on the second episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” that no other act had been able to accomplish. She got more votes on the January 14 episode than Darci Lynne Farmer, the singing ventriloquist who won “AGT” in 2017. By winning over enough of the superfans, Ramos secured a place in the final.
She won “Spain’s Got Talent” in 2016 with her wild mash-ups of rock songs and opera. Now she could well win the first season of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” Ramos first came to fame in her native Spain when she wowed the judges and audiences with her over-the-top style of singing. She mixes musical genres, including opera rock and disco into an unique sound. Add to that her theatrical performances and she could be a real contender.
In the final, Ramos already has competition from another singer — Susan Boyle who got the Golden Buzzer from Mel B after her soaring rendition of the Rolling Stones rock classic “Wild Horses” on the premiere episode on Jan. 7. Also contending in the final are stand-up comic Preacher Lawson, who won the most votes from the superfans at the end of episode 1 and daredevil act Deadly Games, who got the Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum in episode 2.
