Alan Bersten really, really wants to win ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for Hannah Brown

Alan Bersten is one step closer to his first Mirrorball trophy on “Dancing with the Stars,” but he wants to win it for Hannah Brown, not himself.

“I would love to win the Mirrorball, but honestly, I just want Hannah to win it,” Bersten shared in his “Entertainment Tonight” blog. “I want Hannah to feel good about every performance and I want her to realize she is the reason we’re even in the semifinals. Her hard work, dedication and amazing personality is why we’re still here. I’m just so proud of her.”

The “Bachelorette” star has been on the rebound the past two weeks after enduring some tough love from the judges about her disconnection in her performances. She got a 32 and a 39 for her dances on Boy Band and Girl Group Night, and Bersten said she was particularly encouraged by guest judge Joey Fatone‘s remarks.

“I think it really helped Hannah Monday night when guest judge Joey Fatone said the tango we performed was his favorite dance of the night,” he wrote. “That’s incredible and I’m just so thankful that everyone sees the hard work that Hannah has been putting in every single day.”

Compared to his previous partners, Bersten says Brown is different because she’s “so genuine” and wears her heart on her sleeve. “She really cares about this and it shows in her dancing. She wants this and you can see that every time she takes the stage.”

For the semifinals, the pair will redo a rumba as their redemption dance and their new dance will be a contemporary, a style Brown has been itching to do for weeks. “I think this week we have to get into the dance more than ever,” Bersten said. “We have an emotional dance and I would love for everyone to feel the story she’s going to be telling.”
