Ally Brooke and James Van Der Beek have kept in touch since Monday’s dramatic “Dancing with the Stars” results that ended with the judges eliminating the actor and Brooke trying in vain to offer her finale spot to him.
“[We’re] texting back and forth,” Brooke revealed to “Us Weekly. “He’s just the sweetest. He’s such an encourager and an amazing human being. He’s just a remarkable man.”
The “Dawson’s Creek” star landed in the bottom two for the first time this season during the semifinal, two days after his wife suffered a miscarriage. After the judges voted 2-0 to save Brooke, who was in the bottom two for the third time, the singer pleaded to give up her spot to Van Der Beek — something she says she “100 percent” would’ve done if he had accepted.
“James was so wonderful. He’s like, ‘Girl, you shine and go enjoy this and go shine,'” Brooke shared. “So I took that with me, but, you know, I did work so hard to get here, and it’s not been easy and I’m very, very thankful to be in the finale. I hoped I would be and the fact that I’m in the finale is unbelievable!”
For the finale, Brooke and Sasha Farber, who have the highest average score this season, will redo their Week 4 jive that earned them a 32 and, of course, the highly anticipated freestyle in hopes of getting their hands on the Mirrorball trophy. “It’s bittersweet because I’m going to miss everyone so much but at the same time, I’m taking every minute in now that I know that it’s coming to an end,” Brooke said.
