“Dancing with the Stars” fans are predicting who will be eliminated tonight in the eighth week of competition, and once again they’re betting on Sean Spicer to be ousted. This isn’t the first time our users have predicted the former White House press secretary to be voted out of office, but he has yet to even come close to elimination. So is his time really up, or is it just wishful thinking?
Spicer is by far the lowest scoring celebrity remaining in the competition. He’s probably the second worst dancer of the entire season, only outperforming basketball star Lamar Odom, who made a valiant effort but never found his footing. But even though Spicer’s scores have stalled — he got 6s from the judges on “Halloween Night” after getting 7s the week before — his fan base has reliably kept him out of harm’s way, so even though the judges now have the option of who to save and who to eliminate from the bottom two, Spicer has never been an option.
He has exploited political polarization for his benefit, courting conservative audiences on Breitbart and Fox News so they’ll vote for him as a way to stand up for supposedly persecuted conservatives everywhere — in essence, “Vote for me to own the libs!” As a result, we’ve seen the early eliminations of better dancers Sailor Brinkley-Cook and Karamo Brown, and the vast majority of our readers thought those were bad results.
But this week most of the fans who have made their forecasts here in our predictions center think Spicer is finally out of luck. He gets leading odds of 17/10 of being sent home. But if his fan base keeps him safe again, who does that put at greatest risk? Right now “The Office” actress Kate Flannery ranks second with 51/20 odds, and then “All That” alum Kel Mitchell with 69/20 odds. Both Flannery and Mitchell have been in the bottom two once before this season — Flannery just last week — and so far no one on the show has survived landing in the bottom two twice.
So what are we in for tonight? Will MAGA nation save Spicer again, or is there no one left to break his fall?
