After scoring a 24 for their country samba and getting a ton of feedback from the judges on “Dancing with the Stars”, Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten have a new mindset for Halloween Night.
“This week, I feel like we have something to prove,” Bersten told PeopleTV’s “Reality Check” (watch above).
“It’s sometimes disappointing to hear criticism ever, but the judges are giving me constructive criticism that I’m really going to try to work better to sit in the pocket of the music, stay grounded, and honestly, just have fun,” Brown added. The last part is what the former Bachelorette feels like she sometimes forgets to do on the dance floor. “I think sometimes I’m so focused on what the judges think and how they feel that … I’m not able to commit and have fun. And this week I’m just going to have fun and I feel like that will make me dance better.”

The pair have the jazz, and in true Halloween spirit, they’ll put a twist on the ol’ zombie bride. “It’s going to be a little homage to her past,” Bersten teased. “She might be a dead or alive pageant queen — we don’t know yet. She’ll be dead, she’ll be dead. It’s Halloween.”
Brown and Bersten are also on Team Trick for the team dance alongside Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko, Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber, and James Van Der Beek and Emma Slater. But the dance they really want to do is contemporary, which both think Brown would excel at with its emotional emphasis (not to mention its flexible interpretation lends itself to high score).
“Yesterday, we were talking and Hannah was like, ‘I really wanna do a contemporary,’ something where she could show her emotions,” Bersten shared. “And I hope that we can get to that point. I feel like a contemporary would be perfect.”
Brown, who added that she loves ballroom dances as well, believes the style would “suit me.” “I think in contemporary dances, you really get to show a side of you and like your heart if you have the right song and the right emotion behind that, and I would just love to be able to do that.”
