‘Dancing with the Stars’ final predictions: Fans say Hannah Brown will AND should win the Mirror Ball with James Van Der Beek gone

James Van Der Beek was the front-runner to win “Dancing with the Stars” for most of the season — and then he was shockingly eliminated during the Semi-Finals. So what’s a “DWTS” fan to do when trying to predict tonight’s season finale, which is down to country singer Lauren Alaina, pop star Ally Brooke, “Bachelorette” star Hannah Brown, and comedian Kel Mitchell?

As of this writing Brown is the front-runner to win the Mirror Ball Trophy, according to the combined predictions of “DWTS” fans who have given us their forecasts here in our predictions center. She gets leading odds of 63/100. This isn’t the first time she’s been on top of our odds: she was also our favorite going into week three. But she lost some of her momentum after a few tough weeks of the judges criticizing her lack of emotional connection to her dances.

But even when she hit those rough patches, she has always had the backing of fans. In fact, she’s the only contestant this season who was never in the bottom two when the judges’ scores were combined with viewers’ votes. So she seems to have the right combination of strong judges’ scores (she has the season’s second best average, behind Brooke) and audience support that you usually need to win the Mirror Ball Trophy.

And with Van Der Beek out of the running, Brown is also the contestant who should win: 46% of readers who responded to our poll say she’s the rightful champ among the final four. That’s more than the 24% who are rooting for Brooke, the 16% for Mitchell or the 14% for Alaina. But the fact that no contestant is backed by a majority of respondents is a testament to just how close this season has been. Do you agree with our consensus that Brown is out front, or will the season end with yet another surprise?
