Tom Bergeron is Team Hannah Brown. The “Dancing with the Stars” host does not agree with judge Carrie Ann Inaba‘s comments that the former Bachelorette is “disconnected” from her movements and is “lacking” something in her performance.
“I’m not seeing the disconnect the judges addressed, to be honest,” Bergeron told “Us Weekly.” “I think Hannah is among several contestants who deserve to have an eye (or two) on the Mirrorball.”
Brown was nearly reduced to tears after Inaba’s criticism on Monday, telling her after the team dance, “I’m not a performer or actor. I was a girl on reality TV. Every time I come out here I’m just trying my absolute hardest.”
However, both Brown and her partner Alan Bersten feel Inaba was correct in her tough critique. Bersten said they’ve been working on helping her overcome her insecurity. And in a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday, Brown opened up about the difficulty of doing the show and how’s she’s struggled to be free on the dance floor.
“I’ve gotten to the point of being so anxious before I perform that I can’t completely enjoy it like I wish and know I could,” she wrote. “I KNOW I have a lot more I can give. I want to be able to feel free and confident to dance with my whole heart. I’m working on getting there.”
She vowed to change her attitude to get out of her “slump.” “It’s okay to be grateful and positive, while also acknowledging the hard days we all have. It’s so important to think positively, but it’s also important to acknowledge and feel all the feels,” she said. “This pressure to pretend is not good for anyone.”
