Not so stupid, Cupid: Do you remember the last time someone proposed on the ‘American Idol’ stage?

On Monday’s  Hollywood Week episode on “American Idol,”  Las Vegas native Johanna Jones, 23, was preparing to sing her sultry note-perfect rendition of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game.” In an interview, she said she was bummed that her boyfriend  couldn’t be in L.A.  to witness her solo because of his college finals.

Jones said, “He’s the most supportive, loving, awesome guy I ever met. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I think he’s the one. We don’t need to tell him that quite yet – I mean, I don’t know if he knows, but I know”

What she didn’t know, however, is that after she earned a standing ovation from the judges, her beau Matt would show up onstage as her parents watched from the audience. He went down on one knee and took out a ring. He then said, “Johanna, you’re the love of my life. Will you marry me?” That was enough to send the always emotive Katy Perry on a crying jag as she fell to her knees. She then wailed, “Why won’t someone love me like that?”  She has since gotten engaged to elven”Lord of the Rings” actor Orlando Bloom herself.

Turns out, that isn’t the first time that a proposal interrupted an “Idol” telecast. During the 2012 finale of the 11th season when Phillip Phillips was the winner, fifth season finalist Ace Young proposed to third season runner-up Diana DeGarmo on stage. They were wed on June 1, 2013, at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard hotel in Los Angeles.  They currently live in Nashville with their dog, Rosie.

“Idol” showmances seem to be happening with more regularity. Season 16 winner Maddie Poppe and runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson shared their love match news during their season finale. And it was recently revealed that two other Season 16 finalists, Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner, have gotten engaged as well.
