“I want to bring freshness and coolness to the world of magic,” proclaimed Dom Chambers when he returned to the “America’s Got Talent” stage during the second Judge Cuts episode. The last time the Australian magician performed he made beers magically appear, but this time around he was “moving up in the world” to cocktails. With the help of his trusty assistant Siri — yes, that Siri — Dom poured a tequila sunrise for Julianne Hough right out of his iPhone. Siri also made the Seven of Hearts appear in real life after Dom asked Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel for a number and a suit. In the end, Dom’s magic act was so impressive that he advanced to the live shows at the Dolby Theatre. Watch the “AGT” video above and read the judges’ comments below.
Dwyane Wade: “This is the best magic I’ve ever seen. And it didn’t feel like I was watching magic. You know, you’re so cool. It was incredible, man, so thank you for showing us something different. Thank you for being innovative.”
Gabrielle Union: “I have no idea how you did any of that. You are pure magic. Way to go.”
Simon Cowell: “This part of the show, I’m gonna be honest with you, to me is have you stepped up? There is no denying your talent. For me it just wasn’t as dynamic as your first audition. I think you could have done better today.”
Julianne Hough: “Well, we have a very mixed panel right now. We’ll definitely be deliberating over this and it’s gonna be a hard job.”
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the performance: “Hoping he can win over Dwyane is Dom Chambers, a charming magician who has planned something bigger and better than his previous audition. Dom hands Julianne a list of cocktails and has her circle one without him seeing. He then unveils his assistant, Siri, who is full of funny insults for the magician but nothing but compliments for the judges. Dom goes onto pull a card directly out of his cell phone that happens to be the card Howie chose. Next, Dom pours a Tequila sunrise out of his phone and lets Julianne have a taste. The crowd likes this handsome magician and Dwyane says it was the best magic he’s ever seen.”
