Eric Hafemann (‘Survivor’ 38) exit interview: ‘They got me pretty good,’ he confesses after blindside

Now that’s what we call a blindside. Eric Hafemann went into tribal council during Wednesday’s eighth episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” confident that he would survive the night. Unfortunately, four of Eric’s closest Kama alliance members (Victoria Baamonde, Julia Carter, Gavin Whitson and Aurora McCreary) joined up with four of the outcasts (Kelley Wentworth, David Wright, Lauren O’Connell and Dan “Wardog” DaSilva) to send the 35-year-old firefighter to Extinction Island.

In his exit interview at the end of the episode, Eric openly confessed, “They got me pretty good.” Eric now joins Reem Daly, Chris Underwood, Aubry Bracco and Joe Anglim at the Edge of Extinction where he’ll have a chance to return to the game at a later point. He also becomes the fifth member of the biggest “Survivor” jury of all time.

“Somebody mounted somethin’ so here I am on the Edge of Extinction,” Eric continued, referring to the fact that allies Julia and Gavin turned on him with the help of Victoria and Aurora. “All I know is that it’s hard. I don’t know how many days I have to be here, but I have a sense that this is gonna be ‘The Crucible’ of internal struggle.”

When Eric arrived at Extinction Island with his torch, he tried to remain positive by suggesting, “Hey, this is better than I thought it would be.” That’s when Reem fired back, “Dude, don’t get excited.” As the first-ever member of the deserted island, Reem has been there a whopping three weeks now, so she’s clearly out of patience when it comes to greeting newbies.

Find out who will join Eric, Joe, Aubry, Chris and Reem as the sixth member of Extinction Island next Wednesday on “Survivor.” In the meantime, be sure to make your picks in our predictions center for who you think will be voted out of the game next.
