“The Masked Singer” judges are still buzzing about who’s hiding behind the Bee costume on Fox’s reality TV show. Is it Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle or someone else entirely? Below, we take a look at the judges’ picks and then analyze the clues so far in anticipation of Wednesday’s exciting two-hour finale of “The Masked Singer.” Be sure to give us YOUR final guess for Bee down in our poll, and then defend your choice in the comments section.
After Bee’s performance of Aretha Franklin‘s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” in last week’s semi-finals episode, guest panelist Kenan Thompson proclaimed, “I know exactly who that is 1000%. Who in their right mind doesn’t know that’s Gladys Knight? [Her voice] is a gift. It’s a beautiful thing.”
That’s when Robin Thicke readily admitted that he’s been screaming Gladys’ name in “every episode,” which essentially he has. And don’t forget, Robin has bragging rights for the best track record among the panelists so far, having guessed the identities of four of the nine eliminated celebs.
However, Ken Jeong did not agree with his fellow judges. “On this show there have been several times that we’re, ‘[It’s] definitely this person.’ It could be someone who is also singing like Gladys Knight inside the mask. Patti LaBelle [could be] singing like Gladys.”
Nicole Scherzinger nodded in agreement and added her vote for Patti. However, Jenny McCarthy, who’s been burned several times recently, told her colleagues to “have an open mind” because Bee may not turn out to be anyone that they’ve guessed so far.
As Gold Derby’s “Masked Singer” sleuth Paul Sheehan reminds us, “Among the clues that tipped us off about the Bee being Gladys were her admission that she has been singing since the 1950s (Gladys got her start on TV’s ‘Ted Mack’s The Original Amateur Hour’ in 1952), that she has had lots of hit records (Gladys has had six number-one R&B albums and 11 number-one R&B singles) and that ‘you can call me Queen Bee, but empress also suits me’ (Gladys is known as the Empress of Soul).”
The Season 1 finale of “The Masked Singer” airs Wednesday, February 27 at 8/7 c on Fox. That’s when viewers will finally find out Bee’s true identity, as well as who’s hiding behind the Monster and Peacock masks.
