Gwen Stefani on replacing Adam Levine on ‘The Voice’ and working with her ‘best friend’ Blake Shelton

Gwen Stefani says she is super-excited to be back on “The Voice” this fall as a coach alongside her boyfriend Blake Shelton. But she will miss Adam Levine on the panel. “Being between him and Blake, the amount of laughter, I would have to stop and massage my face, because it would hurt.”

In a candid interview on “The Talk,” the Grammy-winning singer revealed it was Levine who convinced her to join the show. “Adam texted me out of nowhere, and I didn’t even really know him.” She readily admits, “to think that he’s not going to be there is bittersweet.” But she is confident that Adam, who was with the show for all 16 seasons, will be back in some way down the line after concentrating on his music and touring for the time being.

Gwen still can’t believe that she was offered this dream job again after coaching in seasons 7, 9 and 12. To do it alongside her “best friend” Blake, who she met on the show, makes it even more special. And she is looking forward to working with Kelly Clarkson, who she considers to be almost like family. Gwen says there won’t be any drama between the two. As for the fourth coach John Legend, who just won in his first season on “The Voice” with Maelyn Jarmon, she says bring it on.
