It’s truly been one heck of a “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18, starting with the fact that Gordon Ramsay trashed the much-touted “Rookies vs. Veterans” concept in episode 4 and reverted back to the usual gender-based teams. Returning chef Jen Gavin had a meltdown and accused Ramsay of sabotaging her garnish and was summarily shown the door in episode 3. And when rookie Chris Mendonca had just hit his stride and improved his game, his on-going mental issues caused him to leave of his own accord before the fifth dinner service.
After many poorly made risottos, lots of too-rare steaks and one very charred pork chop, we are now down to the final four on this week’s episode 14 — the penultimate show before next’s two-episode finale — and there has bit of a change in the temperature. Last week, rookie Mia Castro faced elimination for the second time alongside veteran Heather Williams, who was cut. Veteran Ariel Contreras-Fox was, as alway, cool as a cucumber during dinner service. But rookie Motto (seen above, who we learned has 12 toes) got the service back on track by taking over the overwhelmed veteran Bret Hauser.
According to our fan poll, 43% said that Motto stepped up his game big time. Meanwhile, Ariel remains the one to beat. But 22% said she should keep her eye on Motto since he is a threat. As for Mia, 10% felt she hurt herself by once again zoning out during service. And 22% thinks Motto will be the last man standing, but Ariel and Mia are still the ones to beat. Make sure to see how matters pan out this Friday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox before February 8’s two-hour finale that starts at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
