Hunter Tylo (‘The Bold and the Beautiful’) has a shot (literally!) at her very first Daytime Emmy nomination

Hunter Tylo originated the role of Taylor Hayes on “The Bold and the Beautiful” all the way back in 1990 and has played that role on-and-off ever since. But she has never been nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her performance. That could change this year, though, since she’s pre-nominated for Best Guest Performer for her limited return to the show in 2018 after four years away. Will she finally receive her first Emmy recognition?

Tylo has a good shot — literally. When she returned she confessed to shooting Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) for seducing her daughter Steffy (Best Actress pre-nominee Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and consequently breaking up Steffy’s marriage to Liam (Best Actor pre-nominee Scott Clifton). But Steffy convinced Bill not to report Taylor, and Taylor ended up undergoing therapy.

As of this writing we’re predicting Tylo to be an Emmy nominee: she ranks third with 9/2 odds based on the combined forecasts of hundreds of Gold Derby users. She trails front-runner Kate Mansi (“Days of Our Lives“) and fellow “B&B” guest star Wayne Brady, both of whom are already Emmy winners. But might we be underestimating her for the win?

Our Top 24 Users think we might. Those two dozen elite users got the highest scores predicting last year’s Daytime Emmy nominations. Now 20 of them think Tylo will be nominated, and 4 of them are betting on her to pull off an upset victory. But in previous years she wouldn’t even have been eligible in this category. It used to be reserved for actors playing new roles, but the academy changed that rule to allow previously established performers to compete for limited guest appearances.

For Tylo, that could turn out to be the golden rule.
