“Show me the money, Simon!” shouted voice impressionist Greg Morton during the Quarterfinals 1 episode of “America’s Got Talent.” This time around the movie enthusiast took on such classic films as “The Lion King,” “The Sixth Sense,” “The Godfather” and “The Terminator” before ending with the classic Cuba Gooding Jr. line from “Jerry Maguire.” Simon Cowell had a good laugh at the comment Greg directed toward him, but do you think America will advance him the next round on “AGT”? Watch the performance video above, read the judges’ comments below and make your predictions before Wednesday’s results show.
Gabrielle Union: “Greg Morton, every time you hit this stage you raise the bar. Your brand of entertainment is so pure and so amazing and it takes us all back to our childhoods when we just loved going to the movies and everything was pure magic. And for you sir, at 61, a dream deferred is not a dream denied. Way to go.”
Julianne Hough: “I am sitting here on the edge of my seat waiting for every single thing that you’re gonna do. I mean, this is your third time coming out here, and to keep going? You have more than 1,000 voices. This is unbelievable. You are activating our imagination and that is a true artist.”
Simon Cowell: “Greg, you know, from the very, very first time we met you — not just as an act, but as a person — we absolutely rooted for you. I had a concern prior to you coming to the Dolby whether you would own the stage or not. And actually you completely proved me wrong. Not only did you own the stage, you controlled the stage. This was for me such a step up from your previous auditions. You fought all these years to get here. You got here and I hope the audience at home show you the money with their votes. You deserve it.”
Howie Mandel: “All right, I’ll just say, the biggest variety show on earth is right there. You are the biggest variety show all in one man. Thank you.”
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Movie fanatic and voice impression comic Greg Morton was up next with his latest showcase of film voice impersonations. This time he included references to ‘The Lion King,’ ‘Ace Ventura,’ ‘Braveheart’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ among others. Gabrielle thought that he raised the bar for what he does and enjoyed that he took everyone back to their own childhood love of movies. Julianne concurred and Simon was impressed with how well he took ownership of the stage in a way that he hadn’t expected.”
