Independent Spirit Awards 2019: Thelma Adams, Jack Mathews, Anne Thompson, Susan Wloszczyna top all Experts predicting winners

Congratulations to our Experts Thelma Adams (Gold Derby), Jack Mathews (Gold Derby), Anne Thompson (Indiewire) and Susan Wloszczyna (Gold Derby) for the best score of 84.62%. They topped a total of 13 Experts, journalists who cover the entertainment industry throughout the year. See Experts’ scores.

Over 2,300 people worldwide predicted these indie champs at a ceremony in Santa Monica hosted by Aubrey Plaza. Film winners included “If Beale Street Could Talk” and its director Barry Jenkins plus actors Glenn Close (“The Wife”), Ethan Hawke (“First Reformed”), Regina King (“If Beale Street Could Talk”) and Richard E. Grant (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”).

For the other nine Experts making picks, we follow with a four-way tie at 76.92% for Bonnie Fuller (Hollywood Life), Susan King (Gold Derby), Tom O’Neil (Gold Derby) and Kevin Polowy (Yahoo). A three-way tie at 69.23% is next for Joyce Eng (Gold Derby), Keith Simanton (IMDB) and Peter Travers (Rolling Stone). Following them are Tariq Khan (Fox TV) and Edward Douglas (Weekend Warrior) with 61.54%.
