Did you know that a stand-up comedian has never won NBC’s reality TV show “America’s Got Talent“? It’s true. Many have tried, including most recently Samuel J. Comroe (Season 13), Vicky Barbolak (Season 13) and Preacher Lawson (Season 12), but the “AGT” winners list is still waiting for its first laugh riot to prevail. Might newcomer Jackie Fabulous break the “AGT” comedy curse? Watch her audition video above before Wednesday’s Season 14 premiere, and then judge her comedy act down in the comments section.
Jackie starts off right away by making the judging panel giggle. “Good morning, or afternoon, I have no idea,” she tells Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough and Simon Cowell. The Bronx, New York native then refers to herself a “full time touring stand-up comic,” which immediately makes the panel’s resident comedian Howie blurt out, “Oh wow!”
“I went to law school. I’m a lawyer,” Jackie explains about her beginnings before adding, “I had to quit my lawyer job because I got fired, so it made it awkward being there every day, you know what I mean?” Jackie later adds that her parents “don’t understand” her new comedy path in life, saying, “Who leaves being a lawyer to be a stand-up comic? They’re like, why are you doing this to your life?”
Following her snappy Q&A session with the judges, Jackie goes into her comedy routine which includes laugh-out-loud jokes about her Jamaican mother calling her “fat,” “The Biggest Loser’s” “scale meant for cattle,” and why she hates reuniting with old classmates on Facebook. “She killed it!” shouts new judge Terry Crews from the side of the stage.
All four judges jump up from their chairs and applaud Jackie’s effortless act, but to hear their individual comments you must tune into NBC on Tuesday, May 28 when the season premiere airs from 8-10 p.m. Are you excited for Season 14 of “AGT”? Sound off down in the comments section.
