One of the most epic “The Voice” showdowns in history happened during Monday’s episode, with Jej Vinson of Team Kelly Clarkson taking on LB Crew of Team Adam Levine. Now that NBC’s reality TV show has given the power to the people, we want to know who YOU think won this live Cross Battle. Watch “The Voice” videos above and below, and then be sure to tell us down in the comments section which artist you voted for.
Jej took on “Versace on the Floor” and had Kelly praising him for being “so talented to be able to attack a song by one of the most famous performers right now but still make it your own. If Bruno Mars saw that, he’d be like, ‘Oh, I should do that lick.’ Your runs are so incredibly powerful, but seamless and not trying too hard and I cannot wait to see you on this show. I’m so impressed by you, Jej. Vote for Jej!” Kelly also raved that this was “the best Cross Battle we’ve seen so far.”
LB wowed Adam with his performance of “Wade in the Water.” “You picked the best possible time to have the best possible performance,” Adam raved. “From the very, very beginning, your composure and just the depth of your voice [was] church all day long. I felt that. I love the fact that you chose a song that was really something you felt you could tackle — that tells me how smart you are going forward in this competition. I am blown away by you, man. You are incredible. You’re not going nowhere. Stay here.”
In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the live Cross Battle: “In the battle, LB sang the spiritual ‘Wade in the Water,’ a song associated with songs of the Underground Railroad. LB’s performance was passionate and moving, perfectly reflecting the deep and rich texture of his voice. Jej followed that with the more subdued ‘Versace on the Floor.’ Jej’s song choice offered him the opportunity to show off his incredible range and consistency, but compared to LB it rang much more hollow to me.”
