Joana Martinez eliminated on ‘The Voice’: ‘This journey has been an honor,’ she tells coach Gwen Stefani [WATCH]

Gold Derby’s predictions were accurate this week that Joana Martinez would be eliminated during Tuesday’s results episode of “The Voice.” This 16-year-old from Team Gwen Stefani took on “Impossible” for her Top 10 performance and subsequently found herself in the bottom three along with Shane Q and Marybeth Byrd. The live social media voters instantly saved Marybeth, which meant both Shane and Joana were sent home prior to next week’s Top 8 show. Before host Carson Daly announced the live results, Gwen had a brief moment to address Joana, whom she acquired for her team back in the knockouts when original coach Blake Shelton cut her loose. “It has been just incredibly inspiring to watch you be so confident,” Gwen declared. “This is a lot of pressure, this show, and I just can’t believe how incredibly gifted you are and how much pressure you’re under and you just are handling it so well.”

The rock star coach got emotional as she concluded, “I just love watching you grow right before my eyes. If I had any impact on you, that is just a dream for me. I’m just so proud and honored to have worked with you and I know you have your whole life ahead of you.”

“Gwen, I want to say thank you,” Joana said in her final words to her supportive mentor. “Thank you for helping me to blossom and become more comfortable and natural on the stage. Thank you so much. This journey has been an honor. I have loved working with you, so thank you for that opportunity.”

Joana’s song book on “The Voice” included such well-known tunes as “Call Out My Name” (blinds), “High Hopes” (battles), “California Dreamin’” (knockouts), “You Can’t Stop the Girl” (playoffs), “Get On Your Feet” (top 13), “Dreaming of You” (top 11) and “Impossible” (top 10).
