John Legend gets revenge on ‘The Voice’ coach Adam Levine by blocking him during Julian King’s blind audition [WATCH]

Soon after Adam Levine used his block to prevent John Legend from coaching Domenic Haynes on “The Voice,” the newest judge got sweet revenge on the Maroon 5 singer. The back-and-forth battle, which occurred during Tuesday’s second episode of Season 16, culminated with John blocking Adam from coaching Philadelphia native Julian King. In fact, John pushed his “Block” button mere milliseconds before Adam turned his chair around, which prohibited Julian from joining Team Adam. “Here’s the deal, man,” Adam explained to Julian. “It’s been a long, bitter battle between me and Mr. Legend. And really, we’ve all been going at him because he’s John Legend, what are you gonna do? If we do an instant replay, there was probably about a millisecond in between [his block] and this push. He got me. I knew I was blocked before I even saw it.”

With Adam being blocked, and Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson not turning their chairs around (for some strange reason), that meant Julian became the latest member of Team John by default. As Blake noted, “I love it for you because you don’t even have the chance to make the wrong decision here. I’m very happy for you.”

John didn’t give much of a critique on Julian’s performance, though he did state that he “slayed that song.” John continued, “Your voice is so clear and beautiful and powerful. Welcome to my team, brother.” As of this writing Team John consists of Julian, Maelyn Jarmon, Lisa Ramey, Matthew Johnson and Savannah Brister.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about Julian’s performance: “I’ve been watching this series for a long time and I’ve gotten pretty good at picking artists who can go the distance. Julian is here for the long haul! This kid has an elastic voice, a great stage presence and already makes interesting song choices. I’m shocked Kelly and Blake failed to turn around. They’ll regret that.”
