Johnny Weir (‘The Masked Singer’) exit interview after Egg unmasking: I got to live out my ‘childhood boy band dreams’ [WATCH]

No yolks about it: during the two-hour premiere of “The Masked Singer” Season 2, Johnny Weir was revealed to be hiding behind the Egg mask. This two-time Olympic figure skater and fashion designer to the stars faced off against Butterfly in the initial vote and Skeleton in the smackdown, losing both head-to-head match-ups. However, in his post-show exit interview (watch the video above), Weir remained positive, explaining, “It was such a big win for me. I had the time of my life.”

“It was so much fun,” Weir continued. “I would tell anyone to come on ‘The Masked Singer’ just because you get to feel good about yourself. You get to live out those childhood boy band dreams.” Besides Weir, the other costumed celeb to be unmasked by host Nick Cannon on the Season 2 premiere was Ninja as Ice Cream. Beginning next Wednesday on Fox, only one contestant will go home as the reality TV show returns to its normal one-hour format.

Weir admitted he’s “disappointed” he lost, but added, “I’m kind of excited I don’t have to wear him again, but I do love him. He’s eggcellent. He’s eggstra. He’s all of the eggs’es. The fact that I got to put all of that Johnny Weir-ness on a shell, forget the ice, forget the skates, forget my hair — which was really difficult for me to do, to go on television without my hair did — it was nice.”

At one point “The Masked Singer” panelists had asked Egg whether he was an ice skater and he replied, “No.” Weir later confessed that was a “mini fib,” because “technically I’m a figure skater.” Still, Weir added that he felt it was “quite a compliment” for judges Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy to recognize him even though he was wearing an enormous Egg mask over his head.

“To all of my eggstra eggs, we love you to the moon and back,” he declared about his enormous fan base. “We couldn’t have done this without you.” What was your favorite of Weir’s two performances on the show: “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga or “One Way or Another” by Blondie?
