Watch Julia Roberts geek out over Olivia Colman and her ‘wonderful’ Oscar win

Emma Stone is indisputably the biggest Olivia Colman fangirl, but Julia Roberts could give her a run for her money. The Oscar winner is longtime Colman admirer and was “absolutely thrilled” when she took home the Best Actress Oscar for “The Favourite.”

“She’s so fantastic,” Roberts gushed to the UK’s ITV show “Lorraine” while promoting “Ben Is Back,” revealing that she got tongue-tied when they met. “I actually had the good fortune of meeting her briefly, kind of getting a couple of words out of my mouth towards her at the Golden Globes. And I loved ‘The Favourite’ and I was just absolutely thrilled when she won.”

Roberts watched Colman’s surprise victory from backstage at the Oscars as she was preparing to present Best Picture. She even Instagrammed a shot of Colman mid-speech, writing, “I [heart] Olivia!” And this love affair is indeed pure. “Well, who doesn’t [love her]?” she quipped. Touché, Julia, touché.

“I thought her speech was beautiful,” she continued. “And when people are that caught up in a moment, I think it’s so special and unique that we get to be witnesses to that and it was just so wonderful. I was thrilled for her. She’s such a beautiful actor. She always has been.”

So can we get a Julia and Olivia collaboration soon? Thanks!

Roberts, who almost had Colman as an Emmy rival this season before “The Crown” confirmed it will miss eligibility, also explained why she gave a shout-out to Bradley Cooper‘s mother, Gloria, as she signed off from the Oscars. As many suspected, this dates back to her, Cooper and Paul Rudd‘s 2006 Broadway play “Three Days of Rain.” Gloria and Cooper’s late father, Charles, repeatedly commuted from Philadelphia to see their son on stage.

“I think we had 94 shows and they must’ve come to at least 63 of them,” Roberts said. “She was just always such this cheerleader. She was just on our side every night and couldn’t get enough. And the way that they adore Bradley and … she’s no bigger than a minute and she has this giant son and he’s really accomplishing his dreams and I know she’s just tickled pink. I was just looking right at her in the audience.”
