Sniffly ‘American Idol’ judge Katy Perry belts out ‘Firework’ with toilet paper stuffed up her nose [WATCH]

Katy Perry‘s not gonna let a little thing like the common cold get in her way of being a superstar. During Sunday’s Hollywood week episode of “American Idol,” the sniffly judge belted a portion of her hit song “Firework” with toilet paper stuffed up her nose, and the entire Orpheum Theatre jumped to its feet. Watch the fun “American Idol” video above.

“Never has there been a day off,” Katy told the dozens of contestants who were waiting for their turn to perform in the “Lines of 10” portion of the Hollywood rounds. “You think that you guys are just gonna lounge when you make it? Forget about it!” Last week Katy entertained America by doing the worm and this week she sang “Firework” while sick … what’s she gonna do next?

Katy’s loud sneeze had interrupted Shawn Robinson, who was just about to perform his version of Sam Cooke‘s “A Change Is Gonna Come” for her, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. When Luke asked Katy if she had any allergies, she replied back, “No, I’ve got a cold. I’m just gonna stick this [tissue] up here.”

Shawn wasn’t at all thrown by the wild moment at the judges’ table, as his rendition of “A Change Is Gonna Come” prompted to Lionel to stand up and shout, “That’s what I’m talking about!” Katy waved her tissues in the air in support of the 21-year-old hardware store associate from Atlanta, Georgia.

The judges made the easy decision to send Shawn through to the next round. Could he go on to become the next “American Idol,” joining such iconic winners as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood? Find out as “American Idol” continues airing Sundays and Mondays on ABC.
