During Wednesday’s two-hour episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” the inhabitants of the deserted island learned that there was an advantage hiding somewhere at their camp. After Rick Devens decoded the map, he agreed with Chris Underwood and Reem Daly to all search for it together as a group. But Keith Sowell was having none of that. He rushed off to find the advantage alone, but simply wasn’t fast enough as Chris knocked him out of the way at the last second and grabbed what turned out to be bamboo rods that he can now use to practice for an upcoming challenge. In CBS’s extended video of this scene (watch above), Keith explains why he made the decision to rush off.
“I will do whatever it takes for my nieces,” Keith declares while crying. “I don’t even care. I will do whatever it takes. I don’t feel sorry about anything.” Do you think Keith made the right choice, or should he have waited to search with the entire group? Let us know down in the comments section.
In a private confessional Keith confesses, “I keep trying to push and push and push, but yet these freaking Goliaths that I have just keep conquering. Like, when is my [chance]? I know everybody is out here for their family and everybody is out here for the gold, but I’m just ready for a break and I haven’t seen it yet. I’m just lost. I honestly feel broken.”
“You best believe I’m not done,” a more positive-looking Keith later adds. “I promise you I’m not done. And this is not gonna get me out. That low that I hit? That just showed me how much I can climb.”
When Reem tells Chris and Rick that she feels “bad” for Keith, Chris responds, “It’s okay. You’re a very nice person. That’s why you feel bad.” The Chris vs. Keith feud was far from over, because when Keith found an additional advantage in the water days later — a penalty he could bestow onto any person — he smiled and said he was going to give it to Chris.
The preview trailer for next week’s episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” hints that it’s finally time for the inhabitants of Extinction Island to make themselves known to the players still in the game. Will the castoffs battle in some kind of a competition to return? Find out Wednesday, March 27 on CBS.
