Kelly Clarkson (‘The Voice’) gobsmacked after Blake Shelton compliments her for coaching Jake Hoot: ‘Hell has frozen over’ [WATCH]

Jake Hoot, the last remaining country singer on Season 17 of “The Voice,” sang “That Ain’t My Truck” in the Top 10 performance show in honor of his cousin who died fighting for our country. This 31-year-old artist from Team Kelly Clarkson has stayed away from uptempo songs so far on the reality TV show, but he clearly made the right choice this week as rival coach Blake Shelton actually complimented Kelly’s coaching of Jake. Do you think Jake will advance to next week’s Top 8? Watch “The Voice” video above and then make your predictions before Tuesday’s results show.

“Hell has frozen over,” said a gobsmacked Kelly after Blake asserted she was doing an “incredible job” coaching Jake. “Honestly, I don’t do anything,” she added. “Your family’s gotta be so proud. It’s not like watching anybody on this show, it’s like we’re watching your [concert]. You are so good, you know that. Don’t get a big head.”

Gwen Stefani raved that Jake gave his “best performance” so far on “The Voice.” She called him “an ordinary guy with this extraordinary voice” and that he was “so relaxed” during his rendition of “That Ain’t My Truck.” When Gwen remarked she was proud of herself for knowing the song, Blake chimed in it was because he often plays it during his sound checks.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “For Jake Hoot‘s performance of the Rhett Atkins uptempo track ‘That Ain’t My Truck’ he dedicated it to a loved one he lost in the war in Afghanistan and all service men and women. It was great to see Jake do something upbeat and to rock the stage because it kind of made him come alive. Gwen called him a true country star and Blake admitted that Kelly has done an ‘incredible job’ coaching him.”
