Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Kit Harington is entering the “Game of Thrones” episode “The Iron Throne” as his 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Drama Actor. This program aired May 19 and was the sixth episode of the eighth season for the HBO show.
In this finale, Jon Snow (Harington) is warned that Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is a threat to him, House Stark and the entire kingdom. He confronts her, gives her a big embrace and then murders her. Jon is sentenced to the Night’s Watch but later leads the Wildings north of the Wall as the series ends.
It’s the second Emmy nomination for Harington in this role. For this year’s contest, he is competing against previous winner Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”), returning nominees Jason Bateman (“Ozark”) and Milo Ventimiglia (“This Is Us”), past writing winner Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”) and first-time nominee Billy Porter (“Pose”).
