Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Laura Linney is entering the “Ozark” episode “One Way Out” as her 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Drama Actress. This program streamed August 31 and was the seventh episode of the second season for the Netflix show.
In this installment, Wendy Byrde (Linney) is kidnapped in a demand for the aid of Marty (Jason Bateman) in getting baby Zeke back. Marty kills Mason (Michael Mosley) during a confrontation, causing the Byrde couple to cremate his body at the funeral home.
It’s the sixth career nomination for Linney, who has four prior wins for “Wild Iris,” “Frasier,” “John Adams” and “The Big C.” For the 2019 contest, she is competing against past winner Viola Davis (“How to Get Away with Murder”), previous nominees Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”) and Robin Wright (“House of Cards”) and rookie nominees Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve”) and Mandy Moore (“This Is Us”).
