Julianne Hough: “I feel like a proud mama right now. You know what, Luke? You were a voice for all of those people that have felt like they have never been enough. Thank you for articulating that. You are beautiful. You are more than enough. And I cannot wait to see you in the Finals because you’ve got to vote, vote, vote.”
Gabrielle Union: “Luke, you know how special I think you are and I think the world agrees with all of us. You are a world class talent. I will say it every time you perform. You are a world class talent and you deserve to be in the Finals. Way to go!”
Howie Mandel: “There are no guarantees in life, but I’m gonna give you a guarantee that I believe will come true. I can’t say whether you’ll be in the Finals. Only five go through tonight and that’s up to America. But I guarantee you, you will be on Broadway and your dreams will come true.”
Queen Latifah: “There was something in his eyes that told me he was immersing himself in this moment. You were in that moment. Every single piece and particle of your body was in that song and in that place and you took us there with you. So keep doing that and you doggone sure gonna be on Broadway.”
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Luke Islam took on ‘Never Enough’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’ tonight in his typically theatrical style that suits his voice so well. The judges gave him a standing ovation after the powerful vocal with Howie telling him that he can totally see him living out his dream on Broadway one day and Julianne urging the audience to vote for him to make sure he makes the Final.”
