“I don’t remember any of this!” That’s what Luke Islam just declared while watching his own “America’s Got Talent” Golden Buzzer video from Tuesday’s final audition episode. In his interview with NBC (watch above), the giddy 12-year-old New Yorker continued, “My dad is crying. Wow, I’m crying.” Luke then watched as his favorite judge Julianne Hough slammed her hand down on the golden button. “Ope, there she goes — she hit the buzzer. Oh, I’m on the floor. “One feeling I’ll always remember is when Julianne hit the Golden Buzzer,” Luke recalled while smiling ear to ear. “It’s something I would never imagine would have happened. A very good feeling.” Luke was the final act of the Season 14 auditions to receive a Golden Buzzer following Kodi Lee, Joseph Allen, Tyler Butler-Figueroa and Detroit Youth Choir. The Broadway dreamer later added, “When I saw my family after they were very proud of me and they gave me hugs and [there were] a lot of tears. My dad usually doesn’t cry.” Luke concluded, “It’s very, very cool to just see so many talented people on TV. I thought maybe one of those people could be me, so I just decided to audition and look what happened.”
As for why Julianne pressed her Golden Buzzer for Luke, she said at the time, “You have such talent and grace. You have something so special. You have an essence inside of you that has given you a gift. I believe that not only are you going to become a star and get your dream to come true, but I don’t think you need to wait that much longer.” Julianne then slammed her hand down on the Golden Buzzer, showering Luke in confetti.
