MTV Video Music Awards winners 2019: Full list of who won at the VMAs in all 23 categories

The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards were held on Monday night, August 26, during a live ceremony hosted by comedian Sebastian Maniscalco from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. But who won when the Moonmen were handed out at these 36th annual kudos? Scroll down for the full list of nominees and winners in all 23 categories from Video of the Year to Song of Summer. Keep refreshing this page for the latest results.

Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande were tied as the most nominated artists with 10 apiece when the contenders were initially announced on July 23. Then both women picked up a couple more nominations when MTV unveiled three more categories on August 19. So the grand total for both artists is 12. But how many (if any) did they take home? Swift went into the ceremony with seven awards already on her mantel, including Video of the Year for “Bad Blood” in 2015, while Grande had just two Best Pop Video victories to her name.

A couple of newcomers were next in line. Billie Eilish had 10 nominations including Video of the Year for “Bad Guy.” Lil Nas X came in with nine, also including Video of the Year for his historic breakthrough hit “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. Did they build strong enough fan bases already to overtake the more established stars?

The winners in most categories were decided by fans voting online. Song of Summer, Best Group and Best Power Anthem were voted on by the public in MTV’s Instagram Stories. Six prizes aren’t bestowed by audiences at all: the professional awards (Direction, Art Direction, Choreography, Cinematography, Editing and Visual Effects) were decided by MTV music insiders.

Who were your favorite winners? Who were your least favorite winners? Check out the winners below, updated live as they were announced. And be sure to sound off in the comments, as well as with your fellow music fans here in our forums.
