Myracle Holloway takes on Whitney Houston classic during ‘The Voice’ Top 13 show: ‘It was incredible,’ raves Gwen Stefani [WATCH]

Myracle Holloway of Team Gwen Stefani returned to “The Voice” stage during Monday’s Top 13 show and performed “I’m Your Baby Tonight” for America’s votes. Myracle dedicated the Whitney Houston classic to her late grandma, confessing she “grew up not getting a lot of hugs” until she moved in with her. Gwen and Kelly Clarkson were up on their feet dancing throughout the entire performance, with Blake Shelton and John Legend later joining them in a standing ovation. After the performance, Gwen told a story about how Myracle was having second thoughts taking on “I’m Your Baby Tonight” following last week’s near-elimination. “All right, so this is crazy because she came out for our practice rehearsal and all of a sudden they’re like, she wants to change the song, she’s scared, she doesn’t like it, she freaked out,” Gwen said. “You got saved and you got all in your head. Then we just had a discussion, like no, you’re doing this song because of your grandma. And it was incredible. Every moment was perfect and incredible.”

Kelly agreed with that assertion, declaring Myracle a “champion” for taking on a such a tough song with so many breathing issues. “I would never cover that song!” Kelly shouted.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the performance: “Next is the Los Angeles R&B singer from Team Gwen, Myracle Holloway. Myracle is dedicating Whitney Houston‘s #1 pop hit ‘I’m Your Baby Tonight’ to her late grandmother. While Myracle was growing up she wasn’t allowed to listen to much secular music, but Whitney was one artist her grandmother loved. Myracle is turning up the heat on this song and although I would generally caution artists against taking on ‘The Voice’ Myracle has chosen one of the more manageable hits to cover. That said, she’s still straining her way though this and after nearly going home last week, this may be the end for her. Surprisingly, the entire coaching panel is on their feet so perhaps they heard something I didn’t. Kelly thinks she’s a champion for covering that song and Gwen felt the performance was incredible.”
