Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Natasha Lyonne is entering the “Russian Doll” episode “Nothing in This World Is Easy” as her 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Comedy Actress. This pilot streamed February 1 and was the debut episode of the first season for the Netflix show.
In this installment, Nadia Vulvokov (Lyonne) relives her 36th birthday over and over in a time loop where she dies. She is a software engineer who continually finds herself in the loft of her friend Maxine (Greta Lee).
Lyonne is nominated for acting, producing and writing this series and had a previous bid for “Orange Is the New Black.” For the 2019 acting contest, she is competing against Julia Louis-Dreyfus (who has won six previous times for “Veep”), past winners Christina Applegate (“Dead to Me”), Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Catherine O’Hara (“Schitt’s Creek”), plus previous nominee Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”).
