Olivia Rose Keegan (‘Days of Our Lives’) on her Daytime Emmy nomination and ‘going crazy’ in her final storyline [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO INTERVIEW]

“The rush does not wear off,” says Olivia Rose Keegan about earning her second consecutive Daytime Emmy nomination this year. She’s up for Best Younger Actress for playing the conniving Claire Brady on “Days of Our Lives.” But alas, her time on the show is almost over. She had already filmed her last scenes by the time the nominations were announced, but the show films several months in advance so her material is still airing, and she promises a big finish for Claire. “That’s going to be my favorite stuff when I go crazy,” she teases. “It’s escalating and continues to escalate from what’s airing right now.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Keegan above.

Since Keegan is still airing in 2019, she’ll be eligible to submit for next year’s awards too, and “it’ll be a fun reel to make” for Emmy judges. The Daytime Emmys are unique in that nominations and winners are both decided on the basis of sample performance reels, and for this year’s submission Keegan reveals, “I used a lot of my stuff with Ben when I started to manipulate him and try to get him to work with me to break up Tripp and Ciara. It’s kind of when that thing in Clare just went a little bit loose and people can tell that something isn’t right with this girl.” She also included scenes from her co-star Kyler Pettis‘s exit from the show as Claire’s former love interest Theo Carver.

As for Keegan’s own exit from the series, “It was of course bittersweet,” she explains. “I grew up on the show.” She assumed the role of Claire in 2015 when she was just 15-years-old, so she still has moments “when it hits you and you see it airing and you miss it a lot.” But now she’s “working on a lot of music, and back to auditioning and falling back in love with other characters and new characters. It’s really been great … One door closes and another one opens. I think it was the right timing.”
