Peta Murgatroyd said she would love to return to “Dancing with the Stars” next season “if they will have me back.” Well, word is still out from ABC, but at least one group of people want her back: a massive 68 percent of our readers want her on Season 28.
A two-time champ and one of the more popular pros, Murgatroyd last competed on Season 25 in 2017, when she came in ninth place with Nick Lachey. After a spending a year on tour and filming her first movie, “Faith, Love & Hope,” she told “Entertainment Tonight” recently that she’s ready to lace up her dancing shoes again. “I would love to be back,” she said. “I miss everybody and although it is hard work — it is the toughest job of all time — but I don’t know what it’s gonna take to get me back.”
Honestly, probably just saying you want to come back.
If she does return next season, she likely won’t bring her fiery husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy with her — as a pro at least. His pro days are “done,” but he still hopes to be a judge one day. Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy have competed without each other before, but 20 percent of our readers want a package deal for both of them to return as pros, while 2 percent just want him back (no offense, Peta). Chmerkovskiy last competed on Season 25 as well, when he was paired with Lachey’s wife Vanessa Lachey.
Meanwhile, 10 percent don’t want Murgatroyd back so the new pros can have their moment. The past two seasons have been heavier on new pros as much of the old guard is long gone or was taking time off. Last season, Cheryl Burke and Murgatroyd’s brother-in-law Val Chmerkovskiy were the oldest of the pros, in terms of tenure. If the show wants to evolve, it can’t always rely on old faces either, but one or two can’t hurt.
