Phoebe Waller-Bridge (‘Fleabag’) 2019 Emmy Awards episode revealed for Best Comedy Actress (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is entering the “Fleabag” show “Episode 2.1” as her 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Comedy Actress. This program streamed May 17 and was the debut episode of the second season for the Amazon Prime show.

In this installment, Fleabag (Waller-Bridge) returns home to celebrate the engagement of Godmother (Olivia Colman) and Dad (Bill Paterson). She must put up with her sister (Sian Clifford) and alcoholic brother-in-law (Brett Gelman) as always but is intrigued by the new priest (Andrew Scott). An unexpected attack brings out old family tensions.

Waller-Bridge is also nominated this year for comedy writing, plus as a producer for Best Comedy Series (“Fleabag”) and Best Drama Series (“Killing Eve”). For the 2019 acting contest, she is competing against Julia Louis-Dreyfus (who has won six previous times for “Veep”), past winners Christina Applegate (“Dead to Me”), Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Catherine O’Hara (“Schitt’s Creek”), plus previous nominee Natasha Lyonne (“Russian Doll”).
