‘Project Runway All Stars’ elimination predictions: Will Biddell go from first to worst in week 9?

The field has been cut in half on “Project Runway All Stars” this season, and the judges seem to have very carefully curated their top seven. Every single one of them has won at least one design challenge over the last eight weeks, while the seven eliminated contestants received just two high scores from the judges — combined. But they can’t so easily separate the best from the rest anymore. Someone who has won a design challenge is going home tonight, so who will it be?

The users who have entered their predictions at Gold Derby are actually betting on a surprise ouster: Evan Biddell, who gets leading odds of 23/10 of being sent home. His elimination would be unusual for two reasons. First of all, he has yet to get a single low score from the judges, and there is only one other designer for whom that is still the case (Dmitry Sholokhov). Second, Biddell just won his first design challenge last week. Could he really go from first to worst that fast?

Well, it wouldn’t be the first time such a dramatic drop happened this season. Or the second. Or the third. Seth Aaron Henderson was eliminated the week after he had been the runner-up in a design challenge. So was Jasper Garvida. And two of the remaining contestants this season landed in the bottom two right after they won design challenges: Michelle Lesniak and Sean Kelly.

Our users may also think Biddell is in trouble because he’s one of the last two remaining contestants representing one of the international spin-offs of “Project Runway.” This season brought together seven past champs from the American “Runway” shows and seven from abroad. Five of the foreigners have been eliminated already, leaving just Biddell from Canada and Christina Exie from Australia. Are they truly cursed, or might we be underestimating them?

Sean Kelly ranks second in our elimination predictions with 16/5 odds, and though he’s an American “Runway” alum with a challenge win under his belt, he’s also tied for the most low scores this season so far with four — and that includes all the contestants who have been eliminated. Only the ousted Django Steenbakker landed in the bottom three as many times.
