Blake Shelton (‘The Voice’): Ricky Duran’s Top 11 performance of ‘Downtown Train’ was his ‘moment’ [WATCH]

Blake Shelton‘s rock artist Ricky Duran knocked “The Voice” house down with his performance of “Downtown Train” during Monday night‘s Top 11 performance show. The song was chosen by Ricky’s fans in Worcester, Massachusetts and across the country. Blake was so proud he proclaimed this to be Ricky’s “moment” on the reality TV show. Do you think America will vote Ricky into the Top 10 of Season 17? Watch the performance video above and then make your predictions before Tuesday’s results show.

“You know, Ricky, when I tell you that everybody loves you, it’s not just fans and people that I know,” Blake began. “Literally, people in the business are reaching out to me about you already. I love that about you. Because of life reasons it’s taken you a minute to finally get a chance to have your moment. Brother, you’re having it right now and you deserve it.” The “life reasons” Blake referred to is the fact that Ricky lost both of his parents recently, something he opened up about during his blind audition.

Rival coach John Legend was also impressed with Ricky’s expert rock-n-roll performance, saying, “I forget sometimes that you are even a contestant on the show. You already feel like you’re passed that. You feel like an artist already. The way you carry yourself … you just look advanced beyond a competition. You look like you should be up here coaching, too.”

Could Ricky be the next Team Blake artist to win “The Voice”? Six have already prevailed: Jermaine Paul (Season 2), Cassadee Pope (Season 3), Danielle Bradbery (Season 4), Craig Wayne Boyd (Season 7), Sundance Head (Season 11) and Chloe Kohanski (Season 13).

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the performance: “This classic rock song is perfect for Ricky’s voice and he’s got that charisma that allows him to shine even when just standing still and playing guitar. The vocals are spot on and he remains true to the melody while putting his own stamp on it. Fans will respond to this and Ricky has nothing to worry about this week. He’ll sail into the Top 10.”
