After Katie Kadan of Team John Legend, Jake Hoot of Team Kelly Clarkson and Ricky Duran of Team Blake Shelton advanced to the Season 17 finale of “The Voice,” three other artists had to fight for the fourth spot via the instant save. Rose Short of Team Gwen Stefani took on “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” Hello Sunday of Team Kelly performed “Chandelier” and Kat Hammock of Team Blake opted for “You’ve Got a Friend.” The live social media audience cast their votes for Rose, which meant the others were eliminated along with bottom two artists, Marybeth Byrd and Will Breman of Team Legend.
Rose’s success on Tuesday night now ensures all four coaches will be represented in next week’s “The Voice” finale, something that hasn’t happened in a whopping seven seasons. Watch Rose’s performance video above.
Gwen called Rose’s show-stopping rendition of the Aretha Franklin classic “magical.” “I just have to say, Rose, you keep blowing my mind,” her coach later declared. “I don’t know what it feels like to be so perfect as a performer and a singer and walk around after being a correctional officer, just like holding that in, and having all this talent. You’re just incredible, you’re amazing, you’re inspiring, you’re funny, you’re so human in so many ways. And then you have this crazy gift. You deserve to be here, but you deserve to be everywhere.”
Before host Carson Daly announced the results, Rose was given a moment to speak to Gwen directly. “If I should leave tonight, I’m good,” she stated. “You have shown so much love to me. You’ve given me so much confidence. I’m gonna be good either way. And in the words of Blake, ‘Hell right, I’m straight. I ain’t doing no trippin’.'”
Do you think Rose, Katie, Jake or Ricky will joing “The Voice” winners list? Keep in mind that the winning coach also earns eternal bragging rights, so a lot is on the line for everyone involved. While Gwen has yet to claim victory, John prevailed last season thanks to Maelyn Jarmon, Kelly won two times with Brynn Cartelli (Season 14) and Chevel Shepherd (Season 15), and Blake has six championships under his belt.
All will be revealed when the two-night season finale of “The Voice” airs Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 17 on NBC.
