Kseniya Simonova got the Golden Buzzer from host Terry Crews on the February 4 episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” This sent the sand artist straight through to the finals on this spin-off of “AGT.” That Kseniya got the Golden Buzzer over the likes of reigning “America’s Got Talent” winner magician Shin Lim tells us to keep an eye on this unique talent in the final next week. Watch her winning performance in the video above.
Kseniya had never been to the USA until she travelled here to take part in the first season of “AGT: The Champions.” She had won “Ukraine’s Got Talent” back in 2009. In the decade since, she had carved out a career for herself in Europe. Kseniya joins these four Golden Buzzer acts singled out by the judges: Mel B‘s pick singer Susan Boyle; Heidi Klum‘s choice daredevils Deadly Games; Howie Mandel‘s selection singer Angelica Hale; and Simon Cowell‘s honoree singer Kechi Okwuchi.
Four of the other acts had won in their respective countries, including three who took the title on “Britain’s Got Talent”: shadow dance group Attraction (2013), pianist Tokio Myers (2017) and comedian Lost Voice Guy (2018). Escape artist Cosentino was the “Australia’s Got Talent” winner in 2011.
When we spoke to Terry last week, he explained his rationale for choosing Kseniya over the likes of “AGT” season 5 runner-up Jackie Evancho.”You have never, ever seen an act like the act that I gave my Golden Buzzer to. It is absolutely one of the most phenomenal things. I literally ran out to give the buzzer. This is the thing: it’s such an enormous responsibility, because you understand when you press that button you are changing someone’s life forever, instantly. You want to make sure that you made the right decision, that you don’t regret it. I didn’t want to come home like, ‘Oh man, I should have done this, I should have done that.’ I have no regrets. [The act] is absolutely deserving and you will see why.”
