Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Sian Clifford is entering “Episode 2.3” from “Fleabag” as her 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Comedy Supporting Actress. This program streamed May 17 and was the third episode of the second season for the Amazon Prime show.
In this installment, Fleabag (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) assists her sister Claire (Clifford) at a work event, but it ends in disaster. She is introduced to an intriguing new colleague of Claire.
This is the first career Emmy nomination for Clifford. For the 2019 contest, she is competing against last year’s champ Alex Borstein (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), past winner Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”), previous nominee and co-star Olivia Colman, returning nominees Anna Chlumsky (“Veep”) and Betty Gilpin (“GLOW”), plus rookie contenders Sarah Goldberg (“Barry”) and Marin Hinkle (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”).
