After watching ballerina/contortionist Marina Mazepa perform during Tuesday night’s episode of “America’s Got Talent,” judge Simon Cowell raved that her wild moves were “crazier” than “The Exorcist.” Simon bragged that the star of the 1973 supernatural horror film, Linda Blair, is “a very good friend” and that the director’s cut version was one of the “craziest things” he’d ever seen … until Marina’s performance. The 21-year-old old moved to Los Anglees to fulfill her dream of being a dancer, and things seem to be heading in the right direction since she received four “yes” votes from the “AGT” judges. Watch Marina’s performance video above and then read the judges’ comments below.
Gabrielle Union: “That was amazing. It was so strong. It was so precise. It was so good.”
Howie Mandel: “The contortions were great, but graceful and scary and icky and wonderful. You are a true artist. You stood up and delivered.”
Julianne Hough: “What just happened? I love it. Like, you stood out. It was strong and powerful but graceful and elegant. You have made yourself known on ‘America’s Got Talent.'”
Simon Cowell: “Fantastic, Marina. You have four yeses, congratulations.”
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Tonight’s first audition was from dancer Marina Mazepa who began with a brief ballet moment before deconstructing that into something more, well, out of the box. The rest of her performance was a showcase of her talent at flexibility, bending and contortionist. At times she looked like a creature from a horror movie, but all the while it was impressive movement. To say the panel of judges was fully gagged by the audition is an understatement–Simon was nearly speechless! But they all agreed that she delivered and stood out, leading each of them to vote YES on her moving on to the next round.”
